Introduction to Optics & Lasers

Light ids a kind of electromagnetic waves which is expressed with simple equations in optics. With the simplified formulation of the wave equation, one can simulate every type of optical system. Laser is a kind of amplified electromagnetic field in the visible or near infrared spectrum.

Laser is based upon light amplifying through stimulation of radiation in a resonance cavity. In recent years, there has been an increasing trend in investing in high power lasers with pulsed technique and also changing frequency by the aid of higher order harmonics. In this domain, being equipped with excellent knowledge of active materials for laser, electrical or optical pumping, resonators, and cooling and heat removal is necessary. Material processing by laser beam is another noticeable domain.

History

        .Studies for designing optical systems with the ZIMAX software have been begun since 2005. Studies for heat effect on the performance of laser and wasted heat removal have been under consideration with the ANSYS software.  In respect to capability in modeling and designing laser cavities with FLUENT software, this center have considerable capability in designing and making any kind of cooling systems for solid-state lasers. Moreover, based on its experts in mechanical engineering group, simulating and making any kind of cooling system for high power lasers is possible. Making various types of optical speedometers are other activities during recent years, too.
